How to Measure Your Shoe Size

1. Look at your shoes, what's the style that you're looking for? Are you wanting to wear them with jeans or are they business casual? If it's business casual then make sure the shoe is comfortable to walk in. Also be sure they have a nice sleek look and feel as well. If its going to be worn with either jeans or dress pants then make sure the shoe is also comfortable and fits well.

2. How often will you be wearing your new shoes? If it's something you'll be wearing everyday, like to and from work, or a pair of shoes that is worn most days then make sure they're comfortable.

3. What sort of foot do you have? You can have a flat foot meaning there will be less space for your toes so don't get a shoe that is too big if yours is on the flat side. A bigger size will cause you to trip more often and may cause blisters. Or you could have a high arch, in which case you may need a shoe with a deep heel cup.

4. What's your style? Do you like to have an average sized shoe or do you like the look of a larger shoe? There are many styles of shoes that are available and each one caters to different foot sizes and shapes.

5. How does the shoe fit when you try it on? Make sure the sides of the shoe hug your feet well, not too tight and not too loose. Try walking around in them to see how they feel, if they pinch or rub then try another size.

6. Is the shoe too big or too small? You don't want to wear a shoe that is too big for you and one that is too small is painful. These are not the shoes for you. If it doesn't fit then get a new size or find another style.

7. Once you've found your perfect shoe size then take the proper measurements as we'll go over in the next section of this post and compare them to your dresser's pair of shoes to see if they're just right or if they're a little big or small.

8. If you're trying on a pair of shoes and they're just right then now is the time to ask the sales manger if they can measure your feet. These measurements are not always exact but it will give you a good idea of what size shoe is needed.

9. Take care while measuring your foot by using a ruler and padded foot form, make sure the ruler is set to exactly zero so when it comes to the number one this will be exactly that. Try not to move around in your new pair of shoes as this will skew how many inches you measure at.
